25 Mile Ride

Here we are ready to start the 25 mile ride through the cypress forest and lots of sugar sand. Ronnie will be the camera man today.  Thanks Ronnie!

One of the most beautiful days I've seen in a long time here in Florida was on Memorial Day. And when you add the chance to get the CT70's out with a couple buddies, and do some new movies, you know it's going to be even better. Dom came by with his brother Vinnie to ride this time because he had so much fun the time before (Feb. 14 Trail Ride). I told him not to wear those brand new KISS shorts, but he wouldn't listen.
First it's over three sets of rail road crossing tracks to get us back in the swamp. I always caution new riders about going over these tracks because one wrong move and you'll be riding in the creek below.

Riding along the rail road tracks reminds me the most of Ohio where as a kid I rode up and down the tracks all day. We would take the tracks 15-20 miles to the next city over. We take the tracks now because it's the only way to get to my favorite trails in the cypress forest.
Short break after and hour of riding. There's Ronnie with the mini bike t-shirt on the left.

My throttle screw was about to come out so we pulled over for a tool kit break. When you're 10 miles away from home the last thing you want is the throttle screw falling out to ruin the trail ride for everybody. These tool kits have saved me on numerous occasions back here in the woods. So never leave home without one.

Here Ronnie models our CT70/Z50 t-shirt and gives me a hand holding the grip back while I tighten the throttle screw.

No wheelies for first time riders, Vinnie!  I've seen too many bikes wiped out right in front of me.

My 1971 blue green 4 speed bike is fixed and we are ready to finish our ride. Next we always like to treat ourselves to fresh orange juice on our way home.
Right off our trails is this  place to stop and get a nice  refreshing glass of orange juice, strawberry orange or grapefruit juice without having to drive on the roads. They give free samples too!

Ronnie was so tired he was driving asleep.

It's been raining back here in the woods quite a bit lately and I knew it was going to be muddy. Dom didn't believe me and look what happened to him. The new KISS shorts made it but I don't think the socks did.
