I really wasn't in the market for another CT70, but when an 83 year old man sends you an email and wants to sell one he bought brand new with 403 original miles, you better buy it. This is always an exiting time when the truck drops off another bike. What a great crating  job done by the original owner of this un-touched CT70. Basically this is all you need to ship a bike from Northern California to Florida by Forward Air (www.forwardair.com).  The cost for shipping was $165.00 and the bike was here in three days.

The temperature was a hot 95° and very humid this day. By the time I took out about 100 drywall screws in this kind of heat I was soaking wet. The original owners manual and the title to the bike were both tucked under the seat in a plastic bag taped to the battery rubber.

It came with 403 original miles and as soon as I got it I had to take it for a test drive. It started first kick and purred like a brand new bike so I drove it up and down the street until I ran it out of gas.

The bike is in very good shape for 30 years old, but like anything, it has a few imperfections. The carb has had a slight leak from an old gasket and is a little dirty. It also needs to be removed and rebuilt.   Even though the owner did start it once a year and drive it around the block. I asked him if it had the rust bubbling from under the paint like a lot of them do and he replied "its been inside all its life." He was right because this bike is in the best shape of any others I own (Updated: The 1972 Red 4 speed is nicer). Any new bikes I get I will make sure come from a dry climate like the Western states. These bikes seem to be in better shape than any I have purchased from the New England area.
